Membership to
the Southern University Law Review
may be obtained by either grading on or by
successfully participating in the annual
write-on competition.
It should say: Each spring, the Law Review extends a membership invitation to all first-year students in the full-time day division who have completed at least 26 credit hours and all second-year students in the the part-time evening division who have completed at least 44 credit hours and who are ranked in the top 7% of their class according to their official transcript. To
participate in the write-on competition,
students must fall into one of the following
categories:
1. Students
who have completed only one academic year in
the full-time day division, have a
cumulative GPA of at least 3.00, and have
completed at least 29 hours at the end of
the summer semester;
2. Students
who have completed at least two academic
years in the full-time day division
and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20;
3. Students
who have completed at least two academic
years in the evening or part-time day
division, have a cumulative GPA of least
3.00, and have completed at least 44 hours
at the end of the summer semester;
4. Students
who have completed at least three academic
years in the evening or part-time day
division and have a cumulative GPA of
3.20; and
5. Students
who have completed at least one year in the
evening or part-time day division and
one year in the full-time day division
and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20.
A participant
in the write–on competition may become a
member by submitting a comment or case note
of publishable quality to the Executive
Board.
The Law
Review encourages and welcomes all
eligible students to participate in the
write-on completion. There is an
information meeting each spring for all
interested students to attend to learn more
about the write-on competition.
