STUDENT BAR ASSOCIATION

The primary objective of the association is to provide an organization of self-government for all students so that they may sponsor various projects and programs which will enhance their knowledge of and respect for the legal profession, as well as their pride in the Law School. The secondary purpose is to provide an effective liaison between students, the administration, and the faculty of the Law Center. The Student Bar Association is also charged with promoting programs to improve the educational, social, and economic status of the law center and student body. The SBA provides an effective medium of expression of student's views. Upon admission, each student is deemed a member of the SBA.

As the governing authority of the student body it is our mission to strive not only for success, but to strive for greatness. The SBA and the students of Southern University Law Center are dedicated not only to becoming great attorneys, but great advocates and servants as well. This administration is determined to build upon the mission of previous administrations as we look to serve not only this great institution, but also to serve our great community. To ensure that our students receive the full benefits of pursuing a legal education, the SBA is committed to offering various workshops, speakers, and events that will enlighten and challenge students to gain knowledge both inside and outside the classroom.

To our alumni, as we embark on the 60th anniversary of this great institution, you must continue to give back. Giving back does not necessarily mean monetarily, because your presence, wisdom, and experience is a form of giving back in itself. Continue to be a mentor and role model for the current students here at the Law Center as we aspire to carry on the great legacy that you have left us.

To the students, we have come along way; however, we must realize that there is a lot more work to be done, and it is a long road to greatness. We must also remember that success is not measured by the money you earn or by the assets you own, but it is measured by the impact that you have left on the community. I leave you with the words of the great Jackie Robinson, “A life is not important, except for the impact it has on other lives.”
