Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity
Established in 1869 to promote a higher standard of professional ethics and professionalism in law schools and the legal profession, Phi Delta Phi is among the oldest legal organizations in North America. It is the very first professional fraternity founded in the United Stated. Many prominent lawyers, law professors, and jurists have come from the ranks of Phi Delta Phi. In addition, as of June 2004, five of the current nine sitting justices of the United States Supreme Court are members of Phi Delta Phi, including the Chief Justice. Phi Delta Phi pledges are required by Phi Delta Phi's National Constitution to have attended law school for at least one semester before seeking membership.
