The faculty, administrative and
support staff, as well as alumni,
provide an environment necessary for
students to cope with the stresses
of law studies

The
student and faculty diversity is
great, both in race and gender. I
will have experience working within
an environment that is well
representative of the racial and
gender mix that I expect to enter
when I return to my home town to
practice.

When
clerking this summer for a local
attorney, we received a supervisory
writ from opposing counsel in a
major case. Although, I did not
feel quite ready to write the
answer, I was able to tell my boss
all about writs, including why the
opposing counsel used it, and what
type of things we needed to attach
to our writ, since the writ panel
would review only what we submit. I
also was able to distinguish for him
the difference between emergency and
expedited writs. He was quite
impressed. Thanks to Professor Gail
Stephenson for having Professor
Angela Bell for speaking to all of
the first-year lab classes on
supervisory writs and teaching us
something so useful!
