Students beginning the study of law are admitted only in the fall semester. The following information and materials must be filed with the Law Center Admission office:

Formal Application: Applications may be requested from the Law Center Admission office. Applications, together with current official transcripts and letters of recommendation, should be filed before the end of the fall semester of the year prior to admission. Any applications received later than February 28 cannot be processed for admission in August.

Application: A $25 nonrefundable application fee will be required of all persons seeking admission.

Official Transcripts: Credits earned at a college or university must be forwarded to the Law Center. If courses of study in a college or university are taken after the application is submitted, official supplemental transcripts must be submitted to cover the subsequent study.

The Law School Admissions Test: All applicants are required to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) prior to admission.

The Credential Assembly Service (CAS) provides two important and primary services to law school applicants: Credential Assembly Service (CAS) and the LSAT. The Southern University Law Center requires the 12-month subscription service with CAS. Fees for these services may vary from year to year.

The results of the examination are certified to all schools selected by the applicant. The examination is administered four times a year at designated centers throughout the United States.

Confirmation

The applicant is responsible for arranging for submission of supporting documents and for insuring that they are received in the Law Center Admission office by February 28 for day division and May1 for evening division. Notification of the committee’s decision will be mailed to the applicant.
