Tavares A. Walker a native of the Donaldsonville, Louisiana earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Business in 2005 from Louisiana State University and A&M College. He later earned a Juris Doctor in May 2008 from the Southern University Law Center.
He is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, American Inns of Court, Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, National Bar Association, and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. He is a member of the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society of Greater Baton Rouge, and the National Association of Law Career Professionals. Tavares serves a volunteer hearing officer in the Baton Rouge Teen Court, and chairs the Baton Rouge Bar Association Mock Trial Competition Committee. Tavares was a member of LSBA Leadership Class 2014-2015. Tavares A. Walker has been appointed to the following LSBA standing committees: Bar Governance Committee, Committee on the Profession, Practice Assistance and Improvement Committee, and Publications Subcommittee

Currently, Walker is the Interim Director with the Southern University Law Center Office of Career Services & Adjunct Professor of Law. Immediately prior, he was a Staff Attorney with Acadiana Legal Service Corporation, where he practiced family law. Walker has worked on the legal staff of the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the 17th Judicial District Court Indigent Defender’s Office. Tavares is a Captain in the U.S. Army, Louisiana Army National Guard, Judge Advocate General Corps currently serving as the Deputy Command Judge Advocate for the 225th Engineer Brigade.

He has been admitted to practice law before all Louisiana courts and a licensed Notary Public since October 2008, admitted to practice before military courts since 2012, and admitted to practice before the US District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana in March 2015.
