Lena joined the Southern University Law Center on July 15, 2004 as a Micrographics Tech II and later became an Administrative Assistant III. Lena graduated from Southern University A & M College with honors and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology in May 2008. She later obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Sociology in May 2011, and a Master of Arts Degree in History in May 2012. She has been a lifetime member of the Alpha Kappa Delta International Honor Society since May 2007.
Prior to coming to Southern University Law Center she served as a Head Start Family Information System (HSFIS) Specialist for Iberville and West Baton Rouge Parishes Head Start Program. This position afforded her the opportunity to assist families with their goals and needs as well as train the family service assistants on a weekly basis regarding changes and updates that may have occurred with the software. She troubleshooted and managed confidential records for all students enrolled in the program.
In June 2012, she became the Recruitment Counselor where she assisted in all aspects of Admission and Recruitment services that are offered by the law center. She has been a great asset to the law center. She was voted by the staff as Employee of the Year in 2006.
She became the Coordinator of Admission for the law center in April 2014.
