Cynthia N. Reed is the director of Alumni Affairs and Continuing Legal Education at Southern University Law Center (SULC) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In her capacity as director, she is responsible for scheduling, planning, and coordinating alumni events such as receptions, breakfasts, and banquets taking place on-campus, statewide, and at national conferences.
She serves as a liaison to the Southern University Alumni Federation and the SULC Alumni Association. She also acts as an intermediary between students and alumni to assist with career development and networking opportunities. She maintains the alumni database, and conducts research to keep abreast of market trends to determine the best topics for continuing legal education seminars.
Her commitment to alumni includes serving as an instructor and writing fellow in the supplemental bar exam preparation course conducted at SULC. Further, as an adjunct professor at the law center, she teaches Advanced Legal Writing to second year law students and Family Law to first year law students.
Ms. Reed received her B.A. from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and her J.D. from Southern University Law Center. Before joining SULC in July 1999, Ms. Reed was in private practice in Baton Rouge, handling personal injury, successions, and family law matters. Prior to that, she was an Assistant Attorney General with the Louisiana Department of Justice, where she worked in the areas of workers compensation and general liability.
