Ruth J.
Hill joined the Southern University
Law Center in 2007 as Director of
Library Services and Associate
Professor of Law. Professor Hill
received her B.A. degree in history
and English from the University of
Texas at Austin, M.S.L.S. from the
University of Memphis and J.D. from
the University of Tennessee at
Knoxville.
Professor Hill former positions
include Head of Reference Services
and Adjunct Professor of Law, Loyola
Law School in Los Angeles, Associate
Director of the Law Library at
Howard University School of Law in
Washington, D.C., and Assistant Law
Librarian and Assistant Professor of
Law at the University of Tennessee
College of Law in
Knoxville.
Professor Hill has been active in
the American Association of Law
Libraries and other professional
library organizations, serving on
numerous committees and programs..
She has given presentations on
“Meeting the Challenge of Teaching
Adult Learners in a Legal
Environment”, SEAALL Annual Meeting
(Puerto Rico, 2000); “Legal Research
for Non-Law Libraries”, Black Caucus
of ALA (Milwaukee, 1994); “Gutenberg

Electronic Book and Libraries of the

(Nashville, 1993); and “Where is
Silicon Valley Taking Us and Do We

Annual Meeting (San Francisco,1992).
Professor Hill has
