: domestic violence law clinic
Marcia Burden,
clinical professor for the Domestic Violence/Divorce
Law Clinic, received a B.S. from Louisiana State
University and a J.D. from SULC. Prior to joining
the Law Center ’s Clinical Education Program as a
full-time assistant clinical professor in January
2007, Burden served as an adjunct professor in the
newly created Domestic Violence Law Clinic during
the 2003-2006 academic school years. She also
served as an adjunct clinical professor for the
juvenile law clinic in the spring of 1997. Burden
has worked as a general practitioner in the law firm
of Burden and Burden where her emphasis was focused
on representing women and children. She has served
as an assistant public defender with the
East Baton Rouge Parish Office of Public
Defender. Burden has also represented
victims of domestic violence through the Capital
Area Family Violence Intervention Center ’s Battered
Women’s Program. Marcia Burden has also served as a
Judge Pro Tempore, Non-Support Hearing Officer and
Traffic Court Referee in
East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Court. She
has also been a CLE Lecturer on juvenile law
focusing on children in need of care.
