Ollivette E. Mencer joined the
Law Center faculty in 1993 as an instructor of legal
writing and oral advocacy, was named coordinator of
academic counseling and academic assistance in 1999,
and earned tenure as an associate professor of law
in 2003.
A native of Baton Rouge, Mencer
earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from
Southern University and a master’s of education in
administration and supervision from Louisiana State
University. She earned the J.D. at Southern
University Law Center in 1983, where she was a
cum laude graduate and served as
editor-in-chief of the Southern University Law
Review.
Mencer has held a lifelong
commitment to excellence in education. She formerly
taught for six years in Louisiana and Texas high
schools before obtaining her law degree.
Her practical experience in law
includes several years as a staff attorney for the
Education Committee of the Louisiana House of
Representatives and for the Louisiana Department of
Labor. |
