For more than 50
years the Southern University Law Center has
established a legacy academic excellence and a
leader in the field of legal education and research.
The Law Center continues to venture onto new
frontiers, with the new evening school, and
critically important new clinical programs in the
areas of computer-based fraud, domestic violence,
and the new mediation programs. These initiatives
and others are opening the door for even more
opportunities for our graduates.
The
Annual Fund
Under the leadership of Chancellor Freddie Pitcher,
Jr., the Law Center has implemented aggressive
development campaign—Rekindle the Flame,
the 2005 Annual Fund. This year’s theme
focuses on rekindling relationships with alumni and
encouraging those who may not be affiliated with the
Law Center to become engaged. Alumni and friends
together will fuel the Law Center’s flame of
excellence by making a gift to the Annual Fund.
This year’s goal
is $250,000, become one of the 1,000 alums giving an
annual gift of $250!

REASONS TO SUPPORT THE ANNUAL FUND
Scholarships
and Loan Programs enable the Law Center to
maintain diversity and excellence in the student
body. The Annual Fund will make a Southern
University Law Center legal education available
to many qualified students with substantial
financial need.
There is an
ongoing need to recruit legal practitioners and
scholars to renew the faculty and maintain its
level of excellence.
The
representation of the Law Center’s students and
faculty at local and national conferences and
competitions will provide practical experience
for all involved and contribute to the overall
effectiveness of established curriculums.
Participation on such levels will also gain
additional deserved exposure for SULC programs.
Cultivating
professional development and encouraging
supplementary research projects are strategies
implemented to enhance the overall Law Center
experience.
With the
constant advancement of technology, it is
important that the Law Center has resources
available to maintain a progressive and
competitive standing among other legal
institutions.
