April Brumfield joined the Law Center's administrative staff in 2003 as Annual Fund Coordinator. A professional fund raiser with expertise in donor services and public relations, Brumfield will help cultivate untapped local and national resources to create a more diverse donor base for the institution.

Prior to coming to the Law Center, Brumfield was a program officer at the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, where she co-managed a $13 million grant-making program. Additionally, she served as a liaison between nonprofits and community philanthropists and provided fund management services to the foundation's donors.

Brumfield was a 2003 Hull Leadership Fellow, a program of the Southeastern Council of Foundations. The program recognizes the future leaders of philanthropy. Brumfield was selected by the Baton Rouge Chamber for the 2006 Leadership Greater Baton Rouge class. She is also a member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

Brumfield has additional development experience as an account executive for the Capital Area United Way, one of the country's leading fund-raising organizations, where she managed employee giving campaigns for plants and professionals and raised $800,000 in one year. She also provided maintenance for more than 300 accounts.

A 2001 graduate of Southern University, Brumfield earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications and will receive a juris doctor degree in May 2011.
