Professor Brown joined the Southern University Law Center in Fall 2020. Prior to coming to Southern, Professor Brown served in various capacities at three other law schools. These include serving as the Associate Dean of Admissions at Concordia University School of Law as well as the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Associate Dean of Admissions at the Mississippi College School of Law. Professor Brown has also served as the Director of Academic Support and the Interim Director of Legal Writing at two law schools. During his law school career, Professor Brown has taught a variety of classes including Constitutional Law, Family Law, Torts, Criminal Law, Criminal Legal Analysis and First Amendment Law.
Professor Brown earned both his undergraduate degree and juris doctor from Mercer University. He also earned graduate certification in Public School Administration and Teaching from the University of Virginia. In addition, Professor Brown earned his Master of Divinity from the Erskine Theological Seminary of Erskine College. He has served as a minister in several churches in both South Carolina and Georgia. While serving as both a defense attorney and minister, Professor Brown founded and directed an inner-city legal aid clinic in Macon, Georgia.
