On February 2, 2018, Professor Angela A. Allen-Bell’s Law & Minorities class took their lessons about Creoles, Free People of Color, and the law on the road. As an on-site learning project, the class visited the Creoles du Monde exhibit at the West Baton Rouge Parish Museum.

SULC Alumnus Appointed Magistrate in West Virginia (News)
On April 11, 2019, Southern University Law Center alumnus, Hollis T. Lewis II, will officially be sworn into the Magistrate position for Kanawha County, West Virginia, making him the only African-American appointed to one of the 11 Magistrate positions in the entire county. Lewis, who is also the former assistant Kanawha County Prosecutor, was delegated to the new position by Chief Circuit Judge Joann Tabit who stated that “Lewis will be a real asset to the magistrate court in Kanawha County.”
