Rock Formation Training Exercise
Mode: 90 minutes allotted to training; discussion will be held afterword.
Use: Group activity for training purposes. A silent group collaborative is explored. In this exercise, the group works to create a final structure using items provided. Each participant forms a structure from the items provided and each member in turn modifies the structure. The slow painstaking process of deciding by consensus (without words), what the final structure will be is in fact the discovery of the process and patience that group consensus entails.
Goal: To show participants that balance between individual expression and group needs, and the patience and power sharing required to navigate the circle process.
Objectives: Participants will:
- form a circle;
- follow brief instructions;
- create and modify their
Method: Participants will take items and construct their structure in turn, modifying each other’s formation to find group consensus (based on Kay Pranis’s exercise called “Driftwood”).
