Lecture & discussion of the Sun/Moon Chart: phases of the circle process
Mode: 120 minutes will be allotted to this Module
Use: The Newburgh Model for circle keeping, (developed and implemented by The Restorative Center) will be explained by exploring the Sun/Moon chart and all the elements of circle keeping.
Goal: To give the intellectual understanding of this model and all of the elements and components of it.
Objectives: Participants will learn:
- the centerpiece/alter and the earth elements
- the use of a talking piece
- understanding the 4 phases of a circle
- what is a prompt
- mining one’s personal stories to share
- the power of storytelling
- how to navigate and read the group energy
- what is a density of the circle being created,
- how to invoke the elements of the center piece,
- And the importance of self-care and shadow
Method: By drawing the Sun/Moon chart on a board and by filling in all the essential components of The Newburgh Model, the instructor will be able to explain the model of circle keeping. After the lecture, the participants will have time for individual work to complete the written exercise in the workbook to integrate the lessons of the lecture.
Diagrams, lecture, question and answers, and individual work in the workbook will be held.
