Self Care
Mode: Lecture and discussion
Use: One hour mindfulness walking meditation incorporating breath work and light movement. To be an effective circle keeper, the facilitator must model an easeful presence in the midst of an intense process. The discipline to be easeful in the midst of difficult exchanges requires self- awareness. This process of a mindful meditation will develop a presence— of curiosity and intrigue— without judgement, thus modeling the same for our community circles. This is a stress release component that can be integrated in all areas of one’s life.
Goal: To practice mindfulness and highlight the importance of it.
Objectives: Participants will:
- follow instructions for light movement and breath work;
- take mindful walks;
- become cognizant of each step focusing on the journey and not the destination;
- learn the concept of grounding, a key component as a circle
Method: A moving exercise will occur. A yoga/movement teacher will give instructions to the participants for light movement and breath work and instruct them of talking walks and being cognizant of each step.
