Mock Circles
Mode: Breakout rooms
Use: Each participant will be assigned to a small group. Each group will be assigned a hypothetical situations in which they will facilitate circles. They will be given about 75 minutes to work on their prompts. During this time, trainers will meet with a team and go through the shadow keeping check list. Then each team will run a circle and receive feedback.
Goal: To integrate the knowledge about the phases of a circle, prompts and the elements, to discuss them with the teammates in the context of a specific situation, and to actually run a circle.
Objectives: Participant teams will:
- be given a hypothetical situation where they will be facilitators;
- will be given time to construct their plans, and identify center pieces, prompts, and talking pieces;
- will answer what “density” of circles are being created and what shadows arise;
- will describe how they ground themselves before starting circle
Method: Instructor will monitor Mock circles, small group work and open discussion about each.
