Southern University Law Review Presents a virtual symposium on Voting Rights: Redistricting, Reapportionment, and Restriction.
Recently, many Americans have seen threats to their voting power the very power that gives Americans the right to partake in the democratic process. The individuals behind these threats aim to silence some Americans. These threats are felt the hardest by disenfranchised communities: communities that need their voices heard the loudest. However, the attacks persist through efforts of Redistricting, Reapportionment, and Restrictions. The power of voting is one of the foundational liberties provided to Americans, and all should be able to participate in the democratic process absent attacks.
Join the Southern University Law Review for a riveting symposium on Voting Rights. The symposium will explore the history of voting rights, bring awareness to the recent Redistricting, Reapportionment, and Restrictions efforts, and discuss ways to overcome the attacks and how to move forward. This symposium will engage scholars, lawyers, judiciary, congressional members, and those fighting on the front line.
