2016 Alumnus of the Year and Young Trailblazer to be recognized July 19

SULC will recognize its 2016 Alumnus of the Year and Young Trailblazer during the annual alumni breakfast set for Tuesday, July 19, in conjunction with the 91st Annual National Bar Association Convention & Exhibits in St. Louis, Missouri.
The SULC alumni breakfast will be held from 7:30-9-30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Louis Grand Hotel. The NBA Convention will be held from July 16-22.
The Alumnus of the Year is Sherman Dupre, ’97, chief financial officer for weapons and missiles systems (WMS) at The Boeing Company in St. Louis, and the 2016 Young Trailblazer is A. Angelique Roché, ’06, vice president for external affairs, Ms. Foundation for Women in New York City, New York.
At Boeing’s Military Aircraft (BMA) Global Strike, Dupre is responsible for WMS affordability for customers, managing financial risks, and ensuring investment approaches are both strategic and comprehensive. Previously he served as the director of Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) supplier management in platforms and subsystems, leading supplier-contracting teams responsible for developing and managing contractual and strategic relationships with key large suppliers.
Throughout his tenure with Boeing, Dupre has led contracting activities on some of the United States largest and most notable aerospace programs – including both, International Space Station and Space Shuttle Programs where his career started.
An attorney, educator, writer, and communications professional, Roché manages the Ms. Foundation for Women’s policy and advocacy activities, external and internal communications, partnerships, and special projects.
Prior to joining the Ms. Foundation as senior director of external affairs, the Port Allen, Louisiana, native was the campaign manager for Nina Turner for Ohio Secretary of State, making her the first African-American woman to run a statewide campaign in Ohio. Roché also was a legislative aide for United States Senator Mary Landrieu.
With a lifelong commitment to the empowerment of women and girls, Roché founded the Washington Middle School for Girls Civic Engagement Program, an externship giving young women from a middle school in Washington, D.C. The externship allows students to learn about the democratic process while interacting with congressional staff and representatives from various administrative agencies.
