Opening lecture announced for 2016-17 SULC Speakers Series, Sept. 8.

Indiana University Prof. Pamela Foohey will present “What Happens When Your Place of Worship Goes Bankrupt?” as the opening lecture of the 2016-17 SULC Speakers Series at noon, Thursday, September 8, 2016, in 129-130 A. A. Lenoir Hall.
Foohey, an associate professor at Indiana University Maurer School of Law and co-investigator on the Consumer Bankruptcy Project, will discuss lenders discrimination, Black churches, and bankruptcy in her talk.
Her research in business bankruptcy concentrates on non-profit entities, with a particular emphasis on how churches and other religious organizations use bankruptcy.
Prof. Foohey earned a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
