Valencia Vessel Landry

Valencia Vessel Landry serves as an Assistant Professor of Academic Support in the Department of Academic Support and Bar Preparation at the Southern University Law Center.

Originating from Plaquemine, Louisiana, and a distinguished member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Professor Vessel Landry received her B.A. from Dillard University in New Orleans and her J.D. from the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge.

With nearly 15 years of diverse legal experience, Professor Vessel Landry is a pragmatic chief legal counsel known for her strategic guidance in litigation management, government relations, and transactional law across various businesses and government entities. Her professional journey includes roles as Co-owner of Landry & Vessel, LLC; Chief Legal Counsel to the Baker Economic Development District and Convention Center; Chancellor, Director of Education, and Adjunct Law Professor at Baton Rouge College; Assistant Attorney General in the Louisiana State Department of Justice; Adjunct Professor of Law at the Southern University School of Law; Chief Legal Counsel and Magistrate for the Town of White Castle, Louisiana; and Victims Staff Attorney with the Louisiana District Attorneys Association.

An engaged member of the legal community, Professor Vessel Landry is part of the Louisiana State Bar Association and serves as the Vice-President of the 18th Judicial District Bar Association. Her achievements include the Dillard University Top 40 Under 40 Award and recognition as one of Delta Sigma Sorority, Inc.'s Top Women in Business. Additionally, she has been appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court as a Grader for the State Bar examination.

A sought-after speaker and panelist, she addresses topics like law success strategies, effective litigation, negotiation, mediation, and contemporary legal regulations. Valencia has also co-hosted the “Ask the Lawyers” Radio Show in Lafayette and is celebrated by various civic, educational, legal, and media organizations for her extensive community involvement and expertise.

Professor Vessel Landry, alongside her husband, Attorney Terry C. Landry, Jr., are parents to three children: Kierstyn Janelle, Langston Trés, and Brynnon Olivia.
