Charnel Jackson

Charnel Jackson is a Licensed Professional Counselor who currently provides therapeutic services in Zachary, Louisiana for the Southern University Law Center. Her chosen populations for the majority of her career have been adolescents and adults who have been diagnosed with mood disorders, anxiety, difficulty coping with life changing events and sexual assault and/or abuse survivors. Her preferred theoretical framework is cognitive behavioral therapy. Her therapeutic style in sessions can be described as down to earth, creative, and metaphorical with a healthy dose of personal accountability and honesty.

Charnel matriculated at Southern University and A&M College and earned a Bachelor of Science  degree in Psychology and a Master of Art in Mental Health Counseling in 1999 and 2005 respectively. Her desire to give and help others has allowed her to work with some very specialized and unique populations. Those populations include, but are not limited to juveniles in a corrections setting, survivors of sexual abuse and/or assault, children and families in the foster care system and perpetrators of sexual abuse and/assault within a forensic setting.

Charnel is also a requested speaker on topics of self care, mental health education and team building. She has been a speaker for the Southern University Law Center, Louisiana State University School of Social Work, Livonia High School, Baton Rouge Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, Louisiana Housing Finance Agency, Ascension Parish School Counselors Association, Louisiana Action Coalition Core Leadership Team and the Culture of Health Summit  as well as several groups an organizations which prefer to remain undisclosed.  She continues to give back her time and talents through service in her sorority, Louisiana Tri-Parish Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and her church, Zion Traveler Baptist Church – False River. Her professional and personal goal is to facilitate a metamorphosis within the lives of those whom she sees, she works with, and she knows.
