Professor Jason B. Thrower

Jason B. Thrower has served on the Southern University Law Center faculty as a professor of law since 2007. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the School of Business and Industry at Florida A&M University, and his J.D. from Southern University Law Center.
Professor Thrower brings a wealth of practice experience to his teaching. He served a two-year clerkship for the Honorable Janice G. Clark of the 19th Judicial District Court (Louisiana) and was an associate for a New Orleans law firm where his practice primarily focused on insurance defense and casualty litigation. Additionally, Professor Thrower is the founding member of The Thrower Law Firm, where he has concentrated his legal practice areas on personal casualty litigation, commercial litigation and business entity formation, governance and compliance.
He is admitted to practice in Louisiana, as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal. He is a member of numerous professional associations, including the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Louisiana Association for Justice, and the National Bar Association. He was also previously listed in the National Association of Bond Lawyers (The “Blue Book”) 2016-2017 and The Bond Buyer’s Municipal Marketplace (The “Red Book”) 2016-2017.
Professor Thrower’s teaching and scholarship interests include Basic (Federal) Civil Procedure and Constitutional Law, with specific interests in voting rights and housing.
