Juris Candidate William Gaspard

William Gaspard is a second-year law student at the Southern University Law Center. Currently, he serves as a research fellow at the National Agricultural Law Center and is a member of the Honor Board of Advocates at Southern University Law Center. As a passionate advocate for agricultural policy, he was recently selected to have his research published in Issue 2 of the Southern University Law Review. His work, Plowing Beyond Prejudice: Where Faust Fumbled Black Farmer Debt Relief, showcases the disparate impact of the U.S. Department of Agriculture loan structure on minorities, specifically black farmers, and shines light on the errors of the judicial decision in Faust v. Vilsack. This scholarship earned Gaspard 1st place for the Graduate Oral Research Presentation at the 81st Professional Agricultural Workers Conference. Through his participation in the Conference, Gaspard facilitated constructive dialogue between the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Farm Service Agency, and various other agricultural agencies.
