Mrs. Bruns Turner has over 17 years of planning and audit/assessment experience from the private and public sectors; and twelve years of academic experience in higher education. She joined the Southern University Law Center in July 2019, as the Director of Assessment, Planning, and Institutional Research, where she works to enhance the Law Center’s evidence-based planning and assessment environment that focuses on continuous improvement and supporting the Law Center’s mission regarding ABA and SACSCOC related activities and requirements. Mrs. Bruns Turner provides assessment training resources for Law Center administrators, faculty, and staff; assists with the assessment implementation processes, and provides guidance and support in developing assessment plans and reports. Mrs. Bruns Turner is an accountant by training with a master’s degree in business administration and eighteen graduate hours in accounting. She has served as the Assistant Director of Assessment and Planning at Southern University and A& M College.
Mrs. Bruns Turner has also served as the Department Head and Chairperson for the Business program at Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC), where she was responsible for all planning and assessment activities, including the completion and submission of program accreditation requirements for business programs by the Association Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). While at BRCC she participated in curriculum review committees, Institution-wide SACSCOC planning committees, and led her faculty in completing a program health index that has consistently established the business program as a 5-Star Program.
Mrs. Bruns Turner earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Dillard University, and her Master of Business Administration degree at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX. She has completed the SACSCOC IE evaluator training and has earned several training certificates on assessments and data analytics. She is an active member of the American Association of University Women, National Black MBA Association, and National Association of Black Accountants.
