Bree Anderson is a passionate social justice advocate from New Orleans, Louisiana, dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals and communities. She is the co-founder of two organizations – Daughters Beyond Incarceration and A’sani Heartbeat Foundation – that both focus on empowering women and girls across the country. She works to support children of incarcerated parents through mentorship, policy, and advocacy, with the goal of dismantling unjust systems and providing healing to those affected by them. Bree is also the author of the book In My Own Words, which helps women and girls through storytelling while teaching them to embrace their barriers and has sold over 1000 copies.
Bree is dedicated to creating laws that will support infant mortality, maternal health, and neonatal infancy. Her work has been recognized and featured in The New York Times, Forbes 30 under 30, BBC, BET and other national outlets. Through her dedication and commitment to social justice, Bree has made a positive impact on the lives of countless individuals and continues to strive to make the world a better place. Her work is informed by her own direct experience of parental incarceration, preterm birth, prematurity, maternal health and infant mortality.
