Derek Bisig

Derek A. Bisig holds an Honors BS from University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a Masters from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and earned his Magna Cum Laude law degree from Southern University Law Center. He’s a part-time assistant public defender, part-time In-house Counsel for the City of Jennings, and manages his own private practice, where he is currently focuses in criminal defense, social security disability claims, Estate and Medicaid Planning, and family law.
Derek takes proactive approach to the Louisiana Legal system. Derek is a former member of the SULC Law review and published an article on police reform while in school. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Jefferson Davis Bar Association, Coushatta Tribal Bar Association, and the LGBT Bar.
Derek currently resides in Iota, LA with his husband, Glen Legros and his 3 fur children: Abigail, River, and Arbor. Derek enjoys giving back to his community with his membership in the Jennings Lions Club, Jennings Festival Association, and Recreational Sports Sponsorships.
