Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Jones is a native of Dallas, TX and graduated from James Madison High School in 1962. He earned his Baccalaureate Degree from Dallas Baptist University, a Master of Science Degree in Human Relations and Business Management from Abilene Christian University, and a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Christian Counseling from Cornerstone University.
Dr. Jones was elected as Mayor of the City of Garland in 2007. He subsequently served three terms as the Mayor of the City Garland which is the 11th largest city in Texas and 86th largest city in the nation with a population of over 230,000. Mayor Jones was the Assistant City Manager for the City of Garland for five and one-half years of the 29 years that he served in city government
Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Jones currently serves as the pastor emeritus after serving thirteen years as the thirteenth senior pastor of the historic New Hope Baptist Church, the oldest African American Church in Dallas, Texas organized in 1873 by African Americans. His background as associate pastor, professional Christian counselor, certified temperament counselor, certified mediator, experienced negotiator, and parliamentarian, along with over thirty one years in executive management, enables him to maximize his skills and talents for Christian service. He is also a gifted artist and author of two books..
As a servant leader, Dr. Jones is involved in numerous Christian and civic organizations and has received many honorable honors and awards. He has been a member of the National Football Players Fathers Association since 2003 and has served as President. His youngest son, Daryl L. Jones, was drafted by the New York Giants and subsequently played for the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings.
Dr. Jones is a devoted husband of 54 years to his lovely wife Dr. Peggy R. Jones, who currently serves as the historian of PFPMA. He is an honorable father of two sons: Attorney Ronald E. Jones II (Martha); and retired NFL Player; Rev. Daryl Jones (Kamica) Pastor of the Rock Fellowship Church in Miami, Florida. Mayor Jones and Peggy have seven adorable granddaughters and three grandsons.
