J. Henry Alston, Jr.

John is a high performing Navy Veteran that combines years of focused experience in the cannabis industry from his time and experiences in military aviation, manufacturing and industrial engineering applications, consumer packaged goods, and operational excellence.
Cannabis Experience: John has over 5+ years in the California Cannabis Industry with a growing brand and licensed operation in Oakland, Ca; ground zero for the industry’s cannabis equity movement. Combining his diverse skill sets, John has integrated his operational and logistical expertise to develop and deploy lean production/business processes that run the day-to-day operations at JHSF while utilizing professional strategies such as Continuously Improving Organization (CIO) and other Lean Six Sigma Practices to drive organizational growth while reducing operating costs and creating additional revenue streams at James Henry through strategic partnerships. He has spoken on various outlets including MJ Biz Con (NOLA and Vegas), CannaGather LA, Southern University Law Center, and the SF Cannabis Task Force, to name a few. Alongside his business partners and industry colleagues, John advocates for cannabis equity and BIPOC businesses while continuing to grow JHSF and future endeavors.
Pre-Cannabis Experience: John has been a community voice and an advocate for various initiatives throughout his lifetime having participated in various demonstrations from Louisiana to NYC to Oakland and San Francisco. He has worked with organizations such as Southern University (La), Linde North America (NJ), Viacom and Al-Jazeera (NYC), Mt. Morris Park Community Improvement Association (NYC), and Whirlpool Corporation (Ok). John has a track record of diverse leadership experiences throughout his professional career and is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt practicing business and process engineering, experimental design, and analytical operational excellence.
