James A. Rodgers

James A. Rodgers II is from Richmond, Virginia, and graduated from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCAT) in 2009. After graduating from NCAT, James worked as educator in Richmond Public Schools and Virginia Union University. In 2015, he enlisted as a Human Resource Specialist in the Virginia Army National Guard and has continued to serve in the military with the Louisiana National Guard.
Since enrolling at Southern University Law Center (SULC), James has consistently made the Deans' List. He has served as the Historian for the Black Law Students Association, a class representative, and member of the Board of Student Advisors. James is passionate about helping others and serves as mentor for many underclassmen at SULC. After his first year, James worked as Law Clerk for Congressman A. Donald McEachin. During his second year, James was selected to participate in the Texas Legislative Internship Program and worked for the National Organization of Black County Officials as a Policy intern. The following summer, he served as Law Clerk with Commonwealth Attorney's Office in Petersburg, Virginia.
James will graduate from SULC in December of 2021. Upon graduation, he intends to take the Texas Bar and pursue a career in litigation. He also intends to transition from his role as an enlisted soldier and become a Judge Advocate in the Army Reserve.
