Jennifer C. Duval

Jennifer C. Duval is currently employed as Vice President, Business Affairs at NBCUniversal (“NBCU”). NBCU, a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation is one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies for a global audience. The NBCU umbrella includes a valuable portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television production operations, a leading television stations group, world-renowned theme parks, and a suite of leading Internet-based businesses.
In her role, Jennifer structures, negotiates, and drafts development and series deals for Bravo and Oxygen (including production services agreements, talent, executive producers, rights acquisition, license agreements, formats, etc.) for linear and digital exhibition in connection with docu/occu-series, celebrity competition, host/panel, and true crime programming. She advises, interfaces, and coordinates with all internal divisions (creative, legal, labor, finance, ad sales, marketing, publicity, and network operations) to provide sound business judgment and solution-oriented guidance. Keen examples of Jennifer’s work include Real Housewives, Married to Medicine, and Vanderpump Rules franchises.
At NBCU, Jennifer is a member of the Comcast Executive Training Program, was a featured panelist for the Executive Vice President & General Counsel led legal recruitment event, and advisor for NBCU Legal “Law Student Personal Statement Review” project.
Prior to working at NBCU, Jennifer worked at ViacomCBS as an Intern, Assistant, Production Attorney, Counsel and Senior Counsel for MTV, Vh1, and BET. In this role she negotiated, drafted, and reviewed documentation for a wide range of development and production agreement for original and third party programming including The Shannara Chronicles, Being Mary Jane and Real Husbands of Hollywood. She was also responsible for drafting agreements for tent-pole productions such as BET Awards, Hip Hop Awards, BET Honors, and Celebration of Gospel. She also co-managed the summer internship program.
Jennifer graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (“UPenn”) with a Bachelors in Sociology and a minor in Africana Studies. She was a member of the Dean’s List and Onyx Senior Honor Society. White at UPenn, Jennifer worked for the Penn Athletics Sports Marketing Department and interned for the Live Events department at the Philadelphia Sixers. Jennifer went on to receive her Juris Doctor degree for Southwestern University School of Law (“SW”) where she was a recipient of the CALI Excellence Award in Drafting Technology Agreements, Semi-Finalist, Frederick Douglas Moot Court Competition, and Two-Time First Place Black Law Student Association Essay Scholarship. While at SW, she was also the Student Editor of the Journal of International Media & Entertainment Law, a Dean’s Fellow, President of the Black Law Student Association and Director of Academic Affairs for the Student Bar Association.
Jennifer is a member of the California State Bar. She is a native of Long Island, New York and lives in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to Jennifer’s work in the legal field, she is an avid cook (@cookwithmarjsdaughter), an NYTimes Mini Crossword aficionado and a foreign language film buff.
