Jessica Sparks is Coordinator of Legal Analysis and Writing, as well as an Academic Counselor and Instructor of Law, and a Civil Law Bar Preparation Fellow; her current class coverage includes Legal Analysis and Writing I and II, Lawyering Process I and II, Family Law, and Torts II. From 2017-2019, prior to serving as an academic counselor, Jessica served as a full-time assistant clinical education professor in the newly created Disaster Relief clinic. During her time as clinical education professor, Mrs. Sparks wrote a disaster relief handbook, which addressed common legal issues that arise in the course of natural disasters. Additionally, she has taught Legal Analysis and Writing I and II since she joined Southern University Law Center’s adjunct faculty in 2015.
Professor Sparks earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Liberal Arts from Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College in 2007, where she graduated cum laude. She received her J.D. from Southern University Law Center in 2011. Jessica was named Coordinator of Legal Analysis and Writing in 2021, and, as such, is responsible for developing and managing the first-year legal writing course coverage and materials. Mrs. Sparks is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc.
