Kimberly “Kimmie” Thomas, JD

Kimberly “Kimmie” Thomas, JD affectionately known as “Kimmie” has always been a jack-of-all trades and mastered the art of youth empowerment. Ms. Thomas is a graduate of both Southern University Law Center where she received her Juris Doctorate and Xavier University where she received her undergraduate degrees in both Political Science and Microbiology. Kimmie is currently the President of the companies IGL Foundation, GameHedz Productions and Independent Gaming League after the untimely passing of her brother Derek Thomas in 2019. Kimmie currently holds the title of Coordinator for the Mixed Reality Virtual Innovation and Esports Institute at Southern University Law Center and a partner at Utopian Gaming Lab. She thrives in teaching law, gaming career pathways, entrepreneurship, and business relations to youth both locally and abroad. Ms. Thomas is also a disaster relations specialist, community leader, business legal consultant by trade and has an expertise in change management. Kimmie is most proud of her position as mother to her 15-year-old son, “Chance O.T.” (who is an intern with IGL Foundation) and being the sister to a visionary that was a conduit of innovation in technology and esports education.
