Morrell "Mo" Carter

Morrell "Mo" Carter was born and raised along the bayous of Napoleonville, Louisiana.
Being actively involved in church at an early age allowed Mo to become very comfortable when speaking to large crowds.
Following a standout career as a two-sport athlete at Assumption High School, Mo began his collegiate career playing football at Nicholls State University. After two seasons, Mo transferred and "came home" to Southern University. He was a member of the Jaguars Football team for three seasons under legendary head coach Pete Richardson. When he wasn't with the football team, you could find him leading the campus chapter of the NAACP and NABJ while working locally for Q106.5 and WXOK doing voice over work.
After graduating , Mo's career as a professional journalist began as a Sports Reporter and producer at WAFB Channel 9 later that summer. Since then, he's served as the Sports Director at KALB-TV in Alexandria, WAKA in Montgomery, Alabama and currently serves in that same role at WZDX FOX 54 in Huntsville, Alabama. During his 14 years on air, Mo has covered about everything. Some of his favorite events include Super Bowls, BCS National Championships, NCAA Final Fours, SWAC Championships and even NASCAR.
In 2018, he was selected as an Inaugural member of the Southern University Alumni Association's "40 UNDER FORTY" club.
He’s married to the former Lakeshia Adams (a two-time graduate of Southern University) and together they are the parents to Morrell Carter III.
He’s a member of NABJ, the Southern University Huntsville Alumni Chapter and serves as a Deacon at St. Mark Baptist Church in Huntsville.
Recently, Mo Carter was named the Best Sports Anchor in the state by the Alabama Broadcaster's Association.
