Terrel Kent

Terrel Kent, Deputy Executive Counsel & Criminal Justice Policy Advisor- is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she attended McKinley Senior High School. She earned a Bachelor of Music from Southern University and A&M College in July 2007. She earned her Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center in May 2010. Attorney Kent was sworn into the Louisiana State Bar Association by the Louisiana Supreme Court in October 2010. Attorney Kent serves as the Criminal Justice Policy Advisor and Deputy Executive Counsel to Governor John Bel Edwards. Her role is to coordinate and support policy and legislation concerning effective and responsible criminal justice reform. Governor Edwards recently appointed her to several commissions such as the Commission to Study Medical Release Eligibility, Council on the Children of Incarcerated Parents and Caregivers (CIP Council), the Louisiana Sexual Assault Oversight Commission, the Task Force on Secure Care Standards and Auditing and she manages the Governor's Justice Reinvestment Implementation Oversight Council.
