Turk McBride
Turk McBride is the founder and CEO of Global Research Ventures, a cannabis cultivation and distribution company based in southern California.
In 2015, Turk founded Global Research Ventures with a mission to provide industry leading cannabis genetics, cultivation and research for the advancement of responsible and therapeutic cannabis use. Under his leadership, Global Research Ventures was awarded a coveted medical marijuana cultivation license in Adelanto, California, outright purchased
3.66 acres of industrial land in a zoned cultivation area.
Turk is currently erecting a 60,000 sq. foot state of the art facility to house an indoor and greenhouse cultivation and a distribution center. With sustainability as a primary objective of this facility, Turk is implementing innovative techniques to promote environmental responsibility through state of the art energy efficient construction, appliances, and lighting with commercially renewable energy systems. Upon completion, Global Research Ventures will create approximately 100 new jobs in the city of Adelanto.
Turk currently maintains positive relationships with over 50 major dispensaries, collectives and mobile delivery services serving Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange Counties. He is currently a member of the Adelanto Growers Association.
As a experienced cannabis operator, the cornerstones of Turk’s success are team building, accountability and maintaining constructive relationships. He travelled to Colorado, Arkansas, Tennessee, New Jersey, Michigan and Ohio to convene with cannabis cultivators on best business practices and operations; and politicians to educate about the economic and medical benefits of cannabis.
Understanding the importance of not only economic development, but community development, Turk collaborated with the California chapter of the NAACP. He has worked on initiatives designed to advance minorities in attaining fair and equal opportunities from cultivation to ownership in the medical cannabis industry. Since 2015 Turk has sponsored an annual Holiday Harvest where over 2,500 Adelanto families in need receive groceries, hot food and clothing.
Inspired by his seven year career in the NFL and upon retiring from the league, Turk was determined to find a non toxic remedy for treating pain and traumatic brain injuries. Turk endured several concussions during his college and professional career and was often prescribed opiates to help him deal with the pain from injuries. He recognized the
neuroprotective qualities in cannabis, specifically CBD, as a therapeutic tool in recovery for traumatic brain injuries. With this in mind, he sought opportunities to become part of the solution and expand the dialogue to include medical marijuana. He immersed himself in the cannabis industry where he studied every aspect of the business from genetics and cultivation to extraction and distribution in California.
Turk’s vision is shaping the industry by demonstrating high quality cultivation and extraction techniques to yield a clean, high density product, demanding equal opportunity for access to medical cannabis, ethical business practices across all platforms, and advocating for the use of medical marijuana, specifically CBD in treating traumatic brain injuries in the NFL.
Turk completed his Executive MBA from the University of Miami in June 2018.
