Valencia Vessel Landry

Valencia Vessel Landry is an Academic Counsel & Professor Law in the Department of Academic Support and Bar Preparation at the Southern University Law Center. She joined the Law Center faculty in Fall 2017 and teaches Legal Writing I & II, Lawyering Process I & II, Legal Research and Bar Preparation.
A Plaquemine native and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Professor Vessel Landry received her B.A. degree from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana and the J.D. from the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Professor Vessel Landry, a pragmatic chief legal counsel with well over a decade of law related experience, has amassed an enviable record of success in providing strategic legal guidance, litigation management, government relations, and transactional law for diverse businesses and government entities. Her professional career reflects her work as Co-owner of the Law Firm of Landry & Vessel, LLC; Chief Legal Counsel to the Baker Economic Development District and Convention Center; Chancellor, Director of Education and Adjunct Law Professor at Baton Rouge College; Assistant Attorney General in the Louisiana State Department of Justice; Adjunct Professor of Law at the Southern University School of Law; Chief Legal Counsel and Magistrate for the Town of White Castle, Louisiana; and, Victims Staff Attorney with the Louisiana District Attorneys Association.
Professor Vessel Landry is an active member of professional organizations, including the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Vice-President of the 18th Judicial District Bar Association. She has received the Dillard University Top 40 Under 40 Award; Delta Sigma Sorority, Inc.’s Top Women in Business; and, was appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court as a Grader for the State Bar examination. She is a frequent speaker and panelist on success in law, effective litigation, negotiation and mediation, and current state and federal regulations. Valencia has co-hosted a weekly “Ask the Lawyers” Radio Show in Lafayette where she has been recognized by civic, educational, legal, and media organizations for her expertise, patronage, and outstanding involvement and service to the community.
