Victor Jones

Victor Jones serves as Education Counsel at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF), where he litigates school desegregation and other education civil rights cases in federal courts across the Deep South.
Prior to joining LDF, Victor was a Senior Supervising Attorney for the Southern Poverty Law Center, where he, through litigation, public policy, and public outreach, lead the Louisiana Children Right’s Practice Group in fighting the school to prison pipeline, fighting for educational equity, and protecting children’s access to mental health services.
Victor spent his first six years of law practice as a corporate attorney at multi-disciplinary law firms in New Orleans. Prior to law school, he was a public school kindergarten teacher.
Victor’s publications include COVID-19 and the “Virtual” School to Prison Pipeline, 41 Child. Legal Rts. J. 105 (2021) and To Bryce Gowdy, With Love: Prioritizing Medicaid’s EPSDT Mandate for America’s Most Vulnerable Youth, 48 S.U.L. Rev. 127 (2020). He is also a member of the Louisiana Supreme Court’s Committee on Bar Admissions as an Examiner for Constitutional Law.
Victor received his J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Harvard University and a B.A. in Literature from Xavier University of Louisiana. He is also a graduate and avid supporter of the national Head Start program.
Victor is a native of Mississippi and member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
