Law Center students attend national conference, meet presidential candidates
Recently, Law Center students, Adam Patrick and Candice Savoy, attended the New England College Convention in Manchester, New Hampshire. The convention's focus is to give attendees hands-on experience with civic engagement.
“I feel that hearing perspectives from various policymakers about the things they consider when making such decisions,” said Patrick. “[The conference] coupled with the education I am receiving at the Southern University Law Center will prove invaluable to me in my future endeavors.”
According to their website, every four years, New England College hosts the conference, which is open to students from around the world. Students experience it all. They listen to leading candidates, witness the frenzy of national and international media, engage with the media and interact with candidates.
Attendees participated in breakout sessions on current policy issues, such as national debt, student loan debt, criminal justice reform and more. In addition to gaining a wealth of knowledge, Patrick and Savoy met and networked with a few of the 2020 presidential candidates, including Governor Bill Weld, Senator Amy, Klobuchar, Congressman Joe Delaney, Governor Deval Patrick, and Tom Seyer.
