Navigate the world of sports at SULC’s third annual sports agent and career bootcamp
In the multi-billion-dollar world of professional sports, the demand for skilled professionals to navigate its complexity has never been higher. In its third consecutive year, the Sports Agent and Career Bootcamp is set to empower aspiring individuals with the knowledge and expertise needed to thrive in this multi-faceted and competitive field. The event will take place March 8-9 at the Royal Cotillion Ballroom located on the campus of Southern University A&M College.
“To have a career in the growing field of sports management, our students need deep knowledge of sports law, team leadership and the social and cultural foundations of the sports industry,” says Marla Dickerson, vice chancellor of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives. “During this year’s bootcamp, topics will explore the various facets of the industry along with current trends.”
This two-day conference will shed a light on the sports representation industry through thought-provoking conversations and networking opportunities. The in-person and virtual experience will feature several panel discussions ranging from topics such as sports regulations, sports journalism, and mastering the sports exam. Speakers include Ivory Tabb, vice president of Talent and Brand Partnerships at Players Media Group; Turron Davenport, NFL reporter at ESPN; Donald Woodard, founding partner at Carter and Woodard, along with many others.
The sports industry is not only geared towards what happens on the field; it is a connecting ecosystem that requires a diverse set of skills and talents. The purpose of the bootcamp is to shed light on these infinite opportunities, emphasizing that a career in sports is not limited to athletes alone. Whether one has an extensive career in sports, multiple degrees, or just a small interest in particular sports, there are career openings for each.
The event is open to the public. Registration fees begin at $60. Participants can register at www.sulc.edu/sportsbootcamp.
