Professor receives Juneteenth Legacy Award
On June 26, SULC professor Deleso Alford was awarded the Galveston International Juneteenth Museum’s Dr. Ronald Myers Legacy Award and presented with a certificate of recognition by State Representative Jolanda Jones, Texas House of Representatives District 147.
She was honored alongside civil rights attorney, Ben Crump, and the Henrietta Lacks family during a celebration at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum. This recognition comes as they continue their struggle for justice over the unauthorized use of cells taken from Lacks without her consent.
