Eight alumni recognized by the Louisiana State Bar Association

Eight SULC alumni were recently recognized by the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) at its 2016 Annual Meeting in Destin, Florida.
Installed as members of the 2016-17 LSBA Board of Governors are John Lee Hoffoss Jr., ’04, a partner in the law firm of Hoffoss Devall, LLC, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, representing the Fourth District; C. Kevin Hayes, ’91, owner of Hayes Strategic Solutions, Baton Rouge, representing the Fifth District; and Prof. Donald W. North, ’83, a member-at-large representing SULC.
Scotty E. Chabert Jr., ’06, assistant district attorney and partner in the Baton Rouge law firm of Saunders and Chabert, was installed as 2016-17 chair of the LSBA Young Lawyers Division (YLD). Adam P. Johnson, ’09, of the law firm of Johnson & Vercher, LLC, Lake Charles, Louisiana, was installed as a member of the 2016-17 YLD Council, representing District 4.
Deidre Deculus Robert, ’00, deputy director of the litigation division, Louisiana Department of Justice, was elected to serve a three-year term ex-officio on the Louisiana Bar Foundation’s board of directors, representing the 18th Judicial District.
Alumni were also among the 15 award recipients honored for their services to the association. District Attorney Hillar C. Moore, ’89, was presented a 2016 LSBA President’s Award for the advancement of the relationship between the LSBA and the Louisiana District Attorneys Association. Dwazendra J. Smith, ’09, an associate with Doran & Cawthorne, P.L.L.C., Attorneys at Law, Opelousas, Louisiana, received the 2016 LSBA Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Award.
