Five alumni inducted into the 2016 SULC Hall of Fame

SULC alumni Chet Boudreaux, ’03, of St. Francisville, Louisiana; Brian Caubarreaux, ’92, of Marksville, Louisiana; Debra Page Coleman, ’88, of Atlanta, Georgia; Marcia Graf Pfeiffer, ’91, of Jennings, Louisiana; and retired Prof. Arthur Stallworth, ’75, of Baton Rouge, were inducted into the 2016 Southern University Law Center (SULC) Hall of Fame at a recent gala held at the Renaissance Baton Rouge. The gala was part of the four-day annual SULC Alumni Round-Up, April 6-9.
Inductees were selected from among more than 4,000 SULC law alumni. Through their great work, the members of this elite group have made an indelible mark on the community and throughout the nation and the world.
Boudreaux joined the McKernan Law Firm in 2003. As an associate, he primarily handles trucking cases, personal injury industrial accidents, business litigation, and large automobile accidents in Texas. Selected as “Top 40 Under 40” by the National Trial Lawyers Association for the past three year, he has also been inducted into the “Million Dollar Advocates Club” and has been selected the past two years as a “Rising Star in the Louisiana Super Lawyers.”
Caubarreaux is founder and owner of Caubarreaux and Associates, which focuses exclusively in the area of personal injury litigation.
Coleman is group vice president and associate general counsel at Macy’s, where she is responsible for all pre-litigation employment and benefits legal matters for Macy’s, including Macy’s Retail, Bloomingdale’s, macys.com, bloomingdales.com, and all support divisions.
Pfeiffer is a partner in the law firm of Marcantel, Marcantel, Wall, Pfeiffer, and Stretcher, in Jennings. She practices in the areas of family law, real estate, wills, successions, and corporations.
Prof. Stallworth is a former vice chancellor at the Southern University Law Center and former civil division chief at the Louisiana Department of Justice, currently, he is an adjunct professor at the Law Center, teaching Louisiana Civil Procedure and Federal Procedure, and assisting other faculty/staff in developing novel approaches to undergraduate outreach by promoting the advantages of a legal education.
Other alumni were recognized for their career distinctions at the Distinguished Alumni and Friends reception, Thursday, April 7. The 2016 Distinguished Alumni are Ron Austin, ’95, Harvey, Louisiana; Jason Brown, ’01, Baton Rouge; Ronald Gathe, ’00, Baton Rouge; Barry Roach, ’92, and Larry Roach, ’92, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Brian Smith, ’94, El Dorado, Arkansas.
In addition to the Hall of Fame and Distinguished Alumni honors, the SULC Judicial Wall of Fame Unveiling and Installation Ceremony was held April 7 at the Manship Theatre, Shaw Center for the Arts.
Participants were Judge E. Adrian Adams, ’92, Louisiana 24th Judicial District Court; Judge Lee V. Faulkner, ’91, Louisiana 24th Judicial District Court; Judge Erin Waddell Garrett, ’06, Louisiana First Judicial District Court; Judge Marc E. Johnson, ’89, Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal; Judge Ethel Simms Julien, ’82, Orleans Parish Civil District Court; and Judge Tarvald Smith, ’95, Baton Rouge City Court.
