Transform your ideas about the library: Celebrate National Library Week April 10-16

The Oliver B. Spellman Law Library at Southern University Law Center joins libraries in schools/university campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating the dynamic changes that are happening in today’s libraries during National Library Week, April 10-16.
National Library Week is a time to highlight the changing role of libraries, librarians, and library staff members. Libraries today are more about what they do, for, and with library users as opposed to what they have for patrons.
The law library is not only a place of quiet study, but it is also a place for research and training. “Our library offers a variety of print and digital resources, including Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law, and Hein Online that can be accessed in person or online,” according to Adrienne Shields, interim director of library services.
“Service to the faculty, students, and staff has always been the focus of the law library,” Shields says.
“Our mission is to support the curriculum, programs, and clinics of the Law Center in a friendly, comfortable, and well-equipped facility.”
The Oliver B. Spellman Law Library is celebrating National Library Week by holding contests and awarding prizes, conducting patron surveys, celebrating National Library Workers Day, showing a movie, and conducting legal research refresher training.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
