LaBria K. Brown is a current third year law student at the Southern University Law Center. She is the only child of Dr. Warren D. and LaShanda J. Brown. LaBria claims roots from both Vidalia, Louisiana and Natchez, Mississippi. LaBria’s ultimate goal is to be admitted to practice law in at least two states having a special interest in Entertainment Law. LaBria is a member of the Black Law Students Association, the Greater Baton Rouge Chapter of the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, the Sports and Entertainment Legal Association, as well as the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Alexis Stokes, a current 2L, is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, she is interested in Entertainment law and Personal Injury. Fun facts about Alexis she is a third generation twin, she has a twin brother.

Courtney JaNae’ Brown is a current second year law student at Southern University Law Center. She was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. Courtney obtained a dual-bachelor’s degree from The University of Alabama and a Masters from LIM College. She currently works full-time at Ernst & Young while attending law school. After graduation she plans to take the UBE in New York and practice law in fashion, entertainment, and intellectual property. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Fashion Law Society. Also, she’s an active member of SELA, BLSA, Urban League of New Orleans, Greater Baton Rouge Chapter of the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, and Intellectual Property Law Association. In her spare time, you can find her either traveling or running her new business @cookingwithco_ which is located in the Baton Rouge area. Her ultimate goal is to become a successful attorney and entrepreneur.

Simeon Nwokenkwo, a current 1L; from Chicago, Illinois. He aspires to practice Sports and Entertainment Law. Simeon is a former football student-athlete for the Grambling State University where he forewent his senior season in 2020 to pursue law school.

Tamika Lanier is a second-year law student from Brooklyn, New York. Tamika graduated from Howard University in 2017, with a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Communications. After graduating, she returned to Brooklyn, New York where she was a paralegal with CAMBA Legal Services, a non-profit with a focus on providing free legal services to indigent communities in Brooklyn. This past summer she was a law clerk at the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s office, Civil Rights Division where she reviewed claims of innocence. Tamika is a member of the Black Law Students Association and the Sports and Entertainment Law Association. Once she graduates, she plans to return to New York to pursue her legal career.

Emily LaPlante is a current 2L at Southern University Law Center. She is from Orlando, Florida. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Florida State University. While in Tallahassee, she interned for Attorney Benjamin Crump at Ben Crump Law, PLLC. She is interested in Entertainment Law, Intellectual Property, and Personal Injury. Fun Fact: Emily used to collect sneakers, but that hobby became too expensive.

Jaleah Turner is a second-year law student from Monroe, Louisiana. She attended Louisiana State University-Shreveport in Shreveport, Louisiana where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English.
Jaleah serves as the Social and Networking Coordinator for the Children and Family Law Society and a Junior Editor for the Journal of Race, Poverty, and Gender. She is also a member of the Board of Student Advisors, SBA Community Service Committee, Intellectual Property Association, and Minorities for Medical Marijuana Association. Additionally, Jaleah serves as a mentor for the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition. Prior to law school and during the summer after her 1L year, Jaleah worked as a legislative assistant for Senate District 34 under Senator Katrina R. Jackson. During that time, Jaleah had the opportunity to be exposed to different legislative matters and gained experience in policy and research. She enjoys cooking, traveling, and being around family friends.

Destiny Montemayor is a 1L at the Southern University Law Center. Currently, focusing on obtaining an internship for the summer. Destiny’s field of study is law, specifically, civil procedure. Most recently, She was accepted to participate in the annual First Amendment Diversity Moot Court competition. Her strengths include her attitude, work ethic, and her leadership skills.

Xavian is a current 1L at SULC from Slidell Louisiana. He spent the majority of his educational years in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he attended Holy Cross Middle and High School. Xavian grew up as an athlete playing basketball, baseball, and football. He went on to attend Dillard University on both academic and athletic scholarships. Xavian spent 5 years on Dillard Basketball Team. Xavian and the Bleu Devils won a total of 4 championships. Xavian is a proud member of the Beta Gamma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. Xavian graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He found his love for both Civil Law and Entertainment Law after reflecting on his upbringing. After Law school Xavian would like to practice Sports and Entertainment law throughout the South, focusing on assisting the youth in reaching their dream as professional athletes. Fun Fact: Xavian is passionate about youth & plans to start a mentorship program to benefit the youth in New Orleans and surrounding areas by opening up a multi purpose youth center. Here they will discover their passions by exploring different aspects of their talents and interests. Through implementing this program, his mission is to limit juvenile crime throughout southeast Louisiana and eventually branch out throughout the southern region of the States.

Myles Brumfield is a native of Slidell, Louisiana, and 2014 alumnus of Louisiana State University, where earned his B.A. in Mass Communication. Myles has since immersed himself in governmental affairs, having served on Secretary Shawn Wilson’s executive staff at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development following time as Governor John Bel Edwards’ special assistant during his 2015 gubernatorial campaign. Myles is a member of the Sports and Entertainment Legal Association as well as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Myles is set to graduate from the Southern University Law Center in December 2021 and sit for the New York Bar in February 2022.

Victoria Lowery is currently a 3L from Baton Rouge, LA. She serves as the Vice President of the Student Bar Association and the Treasurer of the Fashion Law Society. Victoria has plans to take the Louisiana bar and later expand to Florida or Texas. She has interest in the Sports and Entertainment field as well as Real Estate.

Ebony Cormier is a third-year evening student at Southern University Law Center (SULC). She’s involved with several student organization where she’s held many leadership roles. Additionally, Ebony is a 2021 White House HBCU Recognition Program Scholar, and a 2021 LexisNexis African Ancestry Network/ Rule of Law Foundation Fellow where she spends time working on efforts to combat systemic racism in the legal industry. Ebony has focused her efforts on diversifying her skills and will be ready to practice law as a litigator or a transactional lawyer upon graduating and passing the bar exam. Prior to attending law school, Ebony obtained her BS and MBA and spent seventeen years in financial services managing business operations, people, projects, and processes. Ebony resides in North Texas with her husband and four children. She is eager to continue to explore new opportunities, network, and be exposed to innovative thinkers and creatives in the legal industry who enjoy working in service of others.

Vajanare Vaughn is a 2L who is a California native. She was born and raised in the Bay Area. Vajanare intends to practice corporate, media, and entertainment law. She has a hidden musical talent, which is playing the piano.

Lorisa Bentley is a 1L. She currently resides in North Carolina. She wants to practice sports law and personal injury law upon graduating. When she is not studying, she enjoys being creative by trying new recipes and do-it-yourself home improvement projects.

Chelsea Gravel is a mother of three with three bonus kids. A 3L, originally from Central Louisiana now residing in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Chelsea's main interest is in Entertainment Law: Contracts, Intellectual Property, Copyright, etc. Although, her time working with the Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Project and now interning with the Nashville Defenders and a fellow with RESULTS, has solidified that criminal justice advocacy will be a major part of her future.

Sierra Mouton is a first-year law student from Lafayette, La. She intends on practicing business law for entertainers, entrepreneurs, and creators. Ms. Mouton is a first-generation law student on the path to changing the trajectory of her family for generations to come.

Arielle King is a 1L from Chicago. Her undergraduate degree is in Fashion Merchandising. She is pursuing a legal career that involves fashion and media.

Jayla Sims is a 1L from Memphis, TN. She attended The University of Memphis where she received her Bachelor's degree in Sports Management. Jayla is planning to practice Sports & Entertainment law upon receiving her J.D. She is very passionate about coffee, fashion, and fitness!

Zoye’ Williams is a 1L. She attended Southeastern Louisiana University with a major in Criminal Justice. She wants to pursue a legal career affiliated with Sports and Entertainment and or Criminal Law. In her free time she enjoys creating art.
