Afi Patterson

Afi is a native Louisianan and a graduate of Louisiana State University. She received her law degree from Southern University Law Center and her LLM from Temple, Beasley School of Law. She is licensed in California and Louisiana and resides in Los Angeles. Afi began her legal career in Baton Rouge as an associate with Adams and Reese. There, she worked in the Special Business Services division on projects in the gaming, charter school, and film and entertainment industries. Later, she accepted an opportunity to work with the International Justice Project in Newark, New Jersey, and The Hague, Netherlands. At the IJP she worked with victims of war crimes from the Darfur region in western Sudan, assisting with their efforts to be recognized by the International Criminal Court. She also worked with a network of attorneys in Senegal, Kenya, Botswana, and Uganda on a number of Human Rights issues.
Following her tenure with the IJP, Afi returned to Louisiana to work as a lead felony Public Defender. There she tried a host of murder, rape, and robbery cases and negotiated plea deals. Today, Afi resides in Los Angeles, CA, and she is the production counsel for the Emmy Award-winning series Divorce Court. She also owns a boutique law firm where she provides transactional services for creative entrepreneurs in film, television, new media, and music. In addition to her law practice, she owns blue door organics, a skincare company that produces premium organic products, and services a growing wellness community.
