Over twenty legal professionals honored at the 2022 SULC Alumni Round-Up

The Southern University Law Center welcomed its alumni and friends for a week of recognition, reconnection and networking at the annual Alumni and Friends Round-Up that took place April 6-9.
Throughout the week, the Law Center celebrated the alumni who continue to be legal changemakers and proudly represent the Law Center.
The round-up events began on Wednesday, April 6 with a continuing legal education symposium titled “Ethical Representation of Mental Health Clients” presented by Kelly Carmena, assistant professor clinical legal education, which focused on ethical representation of mental health of clients.
Following the seminar, twelve alumni were honored during the Judicial Wall of Fame Unveiling Ceremony at the SU Activities Center. Honorees were: Honorable Angela L. Claxton ’06; Honorable Jerry Leon Denton, Jr. ’87; Honorable Maya Harris Evans ’94; Honorable Tiffany Foxworth-Roberts ’05; Honorable Sharlayne Jackson-Prevost ’03; Honorable William “Will” Jorden ’10; Honorable Nadine A. Killebrew ’10; Honorable Charlene Larche-Mason ’97; Honorable Judge Johnell Mosby Matthews ’01; Honorable Eboni M. Johnson Rose ’05; Honorable Jerry Stokes ’80; and Honorable Ledricka Johnson Thierry ’03.
On Thursday, April 7, the Law Center recognized alumni for their career accomplishments at the Distinguished Alumni Ceremony at the River Terrace of the Shaw Center for the Arts. Those honored were: Brandon B. Brown ’07; Jennifer Ashley Mitchell Carter ’11 (posthumously); Christopher Hebert ’03; Morgan Lamandre ’12; Trenika L. Fields-Smith ’13; Ruth Bailey Wesley ’92; Jacqueline Williams ’02.
Beyond the receptions, alumni and supporters gathered on the green at Santa Maria Golf Course to play a few rounds of golf at the annual Chancellor’s Scramble on Friday, April 8. Later that evening, the Office of Admission and Recruitment held an Admitted Student’s Reception to welcome our incoming lawyer leaders.
The week concluded with the Hall of Fame Gala held at the Baton Rouge Renaissance Hotel on Saturday, April 9.Inductees were selected from among more than 4,000 SULC law alumni. Through their great work, the members of this elite group have made an indelible mark on the community and throughout the nation and the world. Those honored were: Colonel Michael Black ’90; Frank E. Brown, lll ’98; M. Joy Clemons ’77 (Posthumously); Todd S. Clemons ’87; Yvette Puckett Cravins ’96; Antonio D. Robinson ’98; Domoine D. Rutledge ’97; Roderick D. Vereen ’89.
