Labor unions and motorsports industry updates are on the agenda for the third annual Sports and Entertainment Symposium

The Southern University Law Center is set to host its third annual Sports and Entertainment Symposium. The event, held in conjunction with the SULC’s Sports and Entertainment Legal Association, is scheduled for September 23-24 at the Manship Theatre, 100 Lafayette St., Baton Rouge, LA 70801.
“As we continue to develop innovative experiences for our students, we constantly pursue avenues that will align our students with various industry influencers to learn new skills and information for continuous network building,” said Marla Dickerson, associate vice chancellor of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives at the Southern University Law Center. “During this symposium students will hear from executives in the sports and entertainment industry and learn how they can be prepared for future opportunities.”
During the third annual Sports and Entertainment Symposium, themed “The Evolution of Creativity,” students will explore how the sports and entertainment industry has evolved through the decades. Participants will attend general sessions and roundtable workshops on topics, such as motorsports, labor unions, contract negotiation, diversity, and more. Panelists include representatives from Paramount Pictures, Diverse Representation, OMBI Group, 300 Entertainment, and more.
This year, SULC has offered a wide array of experiential and networking opportunities for individuals interested in the sports and entertainment industry. In February, SULC, along with industry partner, Diverse Representation, held their inaugural Sports Agent Bootcamp. The two-day event brought leading agents to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to engage with law students, alumni, and the community through networking and panel sessions. During July, select law students were selected to attend the Summer Entertainment Immersion Program in Los Angeles, California. The weeklong program granted students to meet one-on-one with leading attorneys, entertainment executives, and thought leaders in the entertainment industry from companies such as CAA, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, and more.
Registration is now open at www.sulc.edu/sportsent. Attendees are $50 for students and $75 for general admission.
